Been a While

Hey Folks,

Just a quick post to let you all know that I am still alive and well.

The new semester started the day before yesterday, as most of you know, and I've been a bit swamped getting things done for the whole start-up process. It could be a busy and difficult semester for me, but despite that I feel encouraged. My class that I'll be teaching seems like a good group of students, and the material should be interesting. I'm teaching Math 350 - Concepts in Geometry btw. All you mathy types give a shout out ;)

My research has taken a turn for the betterm and it is starting to look like I might actually get out of here sometime soon. Over the next week, I'll be trying to write up the proof of what is supposed to be my last major result.

Finally, I just got my new laptop computer in the mail today. It will be my constant companion as I work on writing my dissertation over the next few months. I need to do a lot to get it set up. This is the first computer I've owned since 1994 - I held out as long as I could. I'm still resisting the urge to get a cell phone. We'll see how long that lasts. Tommy tom tom and T-Gus already betrayed the cause last year, which shows that no-one can resist the hands of time and technological advancement forever. Still, technology can be both a curse and a blessing.
